Newnes: a ghost town
Posted: January 19, 2013 Filed under: Australian Toilets, Regional NSW, Touristy Toilets | Tags: ghost town, mining, newnes, newnes hotel, ruins Leave a commentAbout an hours drive north of Lithgow in the Wolgan Valley lies an old mining town called Newnes. Not much remains today aside from the ruins of the oil refinery which was abandoned nearly a century ago. The hotel still stands (although it hasn’t held a liquor license since the 80’s), plus there a few holiday cabins and a camping ground. It’s a true country NSW ghost town.
