TRH Bar

A quick rendezvous at Montreal’s TRH-Bar after tonight’s work Christmas party to see these beautiful blacklit urinals. It’s been 4 years since I was here last, great to see it’s still standing strong. I was definitely the only person in the bar wearing a suit & bow tie.

See the first visit I made to TRH Bar here back in 2015

A rant at Done Right Inn

A rant on the restroom wall found at Done Right Inn:

I just wanna live in a world where everyone loves each other and guys put the toilet seat down after they piss
– Mrs H.L. Turner

(- I could leave the seat down and piss?)

Lipstick & Dynamite

I discovered Lipstick & Dynamite, another Toronto dive bar with terrifically-tagged toilet walls. Below the pics are a selection of the words of wisdom including a riveting story about a missing tooth.

I lost a tooth in this bar and I had to sort through my shit for two days to find it. My dentist put it back in my mouth. My mother still calls me Shit Tooth when she’s cross with me.

Fuck this trash bar!
— How about you calm the fuck down?
— This bar is my home
— Fuck you!

Poo’d so hard I twisted + shouted

I got a penchant for smokes and kicking dudes in the mouth. Sadly for you my last cigarette’s gone out

I wish I wasn’t left-handed except in this wrist scenario

At one point cave people thought they were the apex of society with their cave etchings. Stop being so fixated on your crude analysis of the fall of Babylon 2.0. (A millennials cliffs notes). Apple crumble America’s greatest bakeoff.

I am a poo factory and I hate myself

Vern’s Tavern

The stickered mirror at Vern’s Tavern in Calgary! 😍

Broken City

I asked the people of Reddit for the best graffitied toilets in Calgary and the unanimous vote was for this one at Broken City. What a superb loo. Not only that, but there was a Dolly Parton Drag Queen show happening while I visited. Love it

C’s Bar

During my quest to source a list of interesting restrooms across Shanghai, I came across an establishment simply named C’s Bar. It’s a university pub southwest of the city centre and as a fan of dirty, gritty, graffiti-covered dive bars, I must say this was one of the best I’ve ever been to. Get a load of these filthy restrooms:

Here’s a gallery of pics from around the rest of the bar to give you an idea of how it looked. I visited on a quiet night with only 5-6 people in attendance which gave me the perfect opportunity to explore its dark, tainted hallways.

I would 100% drink here again.

Merry Christmas 2018

Merry Christmas everyone, thanks for a super 2018 and looking forward to sharing many more interesting loos with you all in the new year!

The Cavern

I came to the sister venue, Toad In The Hole, the day before but the downstairs Cavern bar was closed. I was pretty keen to check out their free open mic comedy night though so I returned and wasn’t disappointed with their divey downstairs dunnies.

Note the hole in the wall on the left:

Toad In The Hole

I’d heard that Toad In The Hole was the must-see British / whisky bar in town and had some pretty filthy (but potentially interesting!) toilets so I couldn’t help but head to the Southside of the river for a beer.

It’s not often you see a corner trough like this. Troughs in general are few & far between in Canada but a trough with a corner is a true rarity.

And how about a high view of a Toad stall:

The Good Will

I spent my May long weekend in Winnipeg, Manitoba! I had a great time there and I was very happy to be able to check another Canadian province off my travel bucket list.

Some kind locals gave me some suggestions via the Winnipeg subreddit for interesting restrooms to visit across the city and my first stop was the Good Will Social Club in the inner west. It was a huge open venue that sold some tasty craft brews, with about 8 loo stalls, all of which were plastered in posters, stickers and the occasional tag.
